Wilderness Center Hosts Save Ohio Bees™

Tracy Teuscher

As part of Nature Fest, the Wilderness Center will host Save Ohio Bees™ founder Tracy Teuscher on Saturday, June 3 for a native bee presentation and a host of activities.

“Nature Fest is an annual event that celebrates the connections between nature and creative expression,” Teuscher said. “Our relationship with the natural world has always inspired art, song, dance, poetry, and more. Being part of the Ohio art community is very special.”

Teuscher, a certified ecotherapist and Ohio naturalist will explain the connection between native bees and healthy ecosystems, food, and forests. Children will enjoy the new Save Ohio Bees™ coloring page, the original “Wild Bees” song, and native wildflower seeds for planting.

“Gentle native bees are pollinator superheroes and there are about 500 species in Ohio alone,” Teuscher explained. “Though one in four are facing extinction, there are many ways we can help them thrive in our own backyards.”

Teuscher will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. offering organic cotton tees and totes and locally-made art and products to benefit the Wilderness Center and the Pollinator Partnership.

Nature Fest will include a Photo Fest, Planetarium Shows, a Creature Feature display, and an array of Ohio artists and makers. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on June 3, and 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on June 4.
