Spring Seed Allocation

Submit an interest form for our spring wildflower seed allocation, and you could win enough native seed to restore an acre of pollinator habitat (valued at $1,125). We invite regional nonprofits, nature centers, conservancies, and other protected-land managers to submit an entry by May 14.

The winning organization will be selected by a drawing and will receive the seed in time for spring sowing.

  • The native seed mix is 100% forbs and includes many pollinator magnets like coneflower, sunflower, clover, wild bergamot, milkweed, aster, hyssop, and goldenrod.  See the full list below.  

  • Soil types: Best sown in dry to mesic soils (medium to well-drained soil).

  • Flower color: Yellow, purple, pink, green, orange, and white.

  • Height: Up to 3 to 5 feet.

  • Bloom time: Spring through fall.

  • Attracts: Native bees, birds, butterflies, other pollinators, and beneficial wildlife.

Eligibility - You must:

  • Have an installation location of at least one acre that receives 6+ hours of sunlight daily.

  • Be able to receive delivery of the seed by mail.

  • Provide the address and/or site location information.

  • Plant the seed before June 15 (by June 1 preferred).  

  • Care for the seed while it is getting established (watering, etc.)  

  • Provide before-and-after photos to us at saveohiobees@gmail.com.

  • Have a location designated for habitat restoration that is not at risk for development.
    (Schools, businesses, and residential homeowners are not eligible).

Submit your interest form online by Wednesday, May 14.  
Recipient will be notified by May 16.

Spring sowing before June 15 preferred. If your site plan is for fall, please clarify in your interest form, and contact us.

Pollinator Oaisis Seed Species include Purple Coneflower, Partridge Pea, Illinois Bundleflower, Indian Blanket, Ox Eye Sunflower, Lanceleaf Coreopsis, Purple Prairie Clover, Yellow Coneflower, Blanket Flower, Black-Eyed Susan, Wild Bergamot (Bee Balm), Butterfly Weed, Common Milkweed, Canadian Vetch, Prairie Ironweed, Rattlesnake Master, Rose Milkweed, White Prairie Clover, Anise Hyssop, Golden Alexander, Smooth Aster, Old Field Goldenrod, Sky Blue Aster, Tall Coreopsis, New England Aster, Hoary Mountain Mint, Stiff Goldenrod, and Prairie Blazingstar.
