Fall Seed Grant

 
 

 Save Ohio Bees - Fall Seed Grant

We welcome you to submit an interest form for our fall wildflower seed grant, and you could receive enough native seed to restore an acre of pollinator habitat (valued at $1,125).

We invite regional parks, nonprofits, nature centers, conservancies, and other protected-land managers to submit an interest form by November 3.

The organization selected will receive Native Pollinator Oasis Seed Mix:

  • The native seed mix is 100% forbs, and includes 28 species (list below).

  • Soil types: Best sown in dry to mesic soils (medium to well-drained soil).

  • Flower color: Yellow, purple, pink, green, orange, and white.

  • Height: Up to 3 to 5 feet.

  • Bloom time: Spring through fall.

  • Attracts: Native bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, birds, hummingbirds, and other beneficial wildlife.

Eligibility

To be eligible, organizations must meet the following requirements:

  • The installation location must be at least one acre.

  • The location must receive 6 hours of sunlight daily.

  • You must provide the address and site location information with your submission.

  • Your organization must be able to sow the seed in mid to late November.

  • Your organization must be provide before-and-after photos to us at saveohiobees@gmail.com.

  • The selected location must not be at risk for development.

  • Stewards of tribal lands are eligible. (Schools, businesses, and residential homeowners are not eligible for this particular grant).

How to Prepare Your Site

Layering, Solarization, Mechanical & Herbicide Options

Submit your interest form by November 3.

Grant recipient will be notified by November 7.

Seed will be mailed the week of November 10.
